ALL ABOUT MEL BICKHAM

Her roots

Mel is a Singaporean born and Hong Kong raised Eurasian. She spent most of her childhood growing up in Hong Kong with her Chinese mother, English father, and two siblings. There, she took up GCSE Drama in ESF Island School, catapulting her into the world of theatre and the performing arts. She returned to Singapore in 2012 and has since then written, directed, and acted in her own original productions, alongside working with established local theatre companies and practitioners.

Education & Experience

She started studying theatre in the aforementioned secondary school, and is currently an undergraduate at Singapore Management University majoring in Arts and Cultural Management. She is also the president of StageIt, SMU's theatre group, and a part-time Speech and Drama instructor with Acropolis English Learning Centre. She was part of Young & W!LD's 2016 batch and has been part of 3 of their productions. She has acted in multiple stage productions and short films since then.

Skills

She is a native English speaker and is apt in basic conversational Mandarin. She is also an experienced and trained Speech and Drama instructor, public speaker, and host. She's also pretty good at putting on accents (e.g. Chinese, German, Russian, Singlish).

Achievements

Won Best Script for her original production in Catholic Junior College's Literary Evening. Winner of SMU's 2016 emcee competition, the Voice Personality Hunt.
